Mariana is playing the recurring character of Professor Carissa Porter in two episodes from Season 6 of Showtime's Dexter, starting with The Angel of Death airing on Sunday 30th October 2011 at 9pm ET/PT.
Mariana plays Professor Carissa Porter, a professor at Tallahassee University. Mariana's first appearance in S6 is in Episode 5 entitled The Angel of Death and continues to Episode 6 Just Let Go on November 6th.
The Angel of Death:- With the help of his newfound friend Brother Sam, Dexter wonders if there is light within him to counter the darkness, while the search for the Doomsday Killers takes him in a new direction; Batista and Quinn pay a visit to the university where Professor Gellar taught; due to departmental regulations following the shooting, Debra is forced to begin therapy.
Dexter investigates the crime scene from last week and finds that a very unique glue was used to attach on a piece of the wing. Masuka hires a new assistant, Louis Green. As Louis goes to find some evidence against the 'Ice Truck Killer' his previous assistant stole from him, Masuka stumble across a piece of paper with an unknown number on the 'Doomsday Killer's latest victim.
Quinn asks Deb for the engagement ring back. It had been accidentally flushed it down the toilet, and Deb felt fairly indifferent. The nanny ends up getting it back. Deb realizes she needs her own place and rents out this place that was a suicide crime scene.
Brother Sam tells Dexter that someone has been causing problems at his auto shop, making it dangerous. Brother Sam visits Harrison in the hospital, where he has a talk with Dexter. Brother Sam tells Dexter he needs to let things go and allow himself to see the light.
Professor Geller tries to get Travis to start making his own kills but he cannot manage. They notice Professor Geller's face on the front page of news - he tells Travis it looks like he's going to have to make these kills without him. Dexter discovers information about Travis and decides to kill him, before he realizes that Travis is just used as bait.
Quinn is called to interview Professor Porter, a hot, young teacher, whom Quinn develops a crush on. Unfortunately, Batista finds a book of Porter's full of detailed illustrations of Geller's murders.
Just Let Go: - Dexter investigates who shot Brother Sam. Meanwhile, Homicide interrogates the woman who Quinn slept with who is involved in the Doomsday Killer case.
Dexter gets the news from Deb that Brother Sam has been shot. He has to abandon his current task, stalking and killing Travis, to take care of this, and he is not happy. Hezeroesin on Leo Hernandez, the guy who replaced someone Dexter had killed. Leo ends up getting shot and killed in a standoff with cops.
As time goes by, Dexter becomes less and less convinced of Leo's guilt. The real shooter is the guy that Dexter saw Brother Sam baptize, Nick. To Dexter's surprise, Sam asks Dexter to forgive the guy, instead of pursue him. On his deathbed, Sam tells Dexter that that he knows his darkness, but he also sees his light.
Dexter decides to try and convince Nick to turn himself in. He does not and Dexter ends up drowning him in the lake where he got baptized. Dexter is thenconfrontedby his (dead) brother Brian Moser. Dexter has an internal conflict - he wants to protect the ones he loves, but he knows he cannot change.
Deb's new position has been affecting her relationship with others in Miami Metro. Deb admits that she regrets how things ended with her and Quinn. Quinn asks her if she ever loved him, and she does not answer.
A chick Quinn was getting close to is called into questioning. Deb was not to happy to her some of the things she was telling her, and Quinn blames it on Deb's jealousy. Quinn shows up drunk at Deb's housewarming party where he ends up hitting on Jaime that lands him a punch in the face from Batista..
